2009)
The Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers extends its congratulations to
Donald W. Goodfellow, Esq, Q.C., C.Arb. on being
named a “Champion of Education” by the Calgary
Construction Association in the spring of 2009. In
recognition of “His Commitment to Advancing Education
and Training in the Construction Industry” the Calgary
Construction Association has established an annual in
perpetuity scholarship in his name to an apprentice
under the Alberta Apprenticeship Scholarship Program.
Mr. Goodfellow has been a
distinguished member of the Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers since 1998.

The Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers extends its congratulations to
The Honourable Neil C. Wittmann, Associate Chief
Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta who was
recently appointed Chief Justice to replace the
Honourable Chief Justice A.H. Wachowich, who elected to
become a supernumerary Judge as of October, 1 2009.
Mr. Justice Wittmann has
been a distinguished member of the Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers since 1998 and an Honourary member
of the College since 2000.

The Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers extends its congratulations to
The Honourable Michael F. Harrington, a Judge of the
Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, Trial
Division who was recently appointed a Judge of the Court
of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and
Labrador to replace Mr. Justice L.D. Barry in St.
John’s, who elected to become a supernumerary Judge as
of September 1, 2009.
Mr. Justice Harrington has
been a distinguished member of the Canadian College of
Construction Lawyers since 1998 and was previously a
Governor. He has been an Honourary member of the College
since 2007.

COMMUNIQUÉ:
Un nouveau livre, « The
Construction Hypothec », écrit par Me David H.
Kauffman en collaboration avec Me Guy Gilain,
passe en revue tous les aspects de la
législation en matière d’hypothèque légale de
construction au Québec. Il porte une attention
particulière sur les changements apportés par la
réforme du Code civil en 1994 et l'impact de ces
changements sur les propriétaires, les
institutions financières, les entrepreneurs, les
sous-entrepreneurs, les architectes et les
ingénieurs.

La 10ième conférence annuelle du Collège canadien des avocats
en droit de la construction s’est tenue au Predator
Ridge Golf Resort à Vernon, Colombie-Britannique du
31 mai au 3 juin 2007.

Nomination
à la Magistrature de Notre Collègue
Michael F. Harrington, Q.C.
Ottawa, le 2 mars 2007
L'honorable Michael F. Harrington, c.r., associé
principal au sein du cabinet Stewart McKelvey à St.
John’s, a été nommé juge à
la Cour suprême de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador, Section
de première instance. Il remplace monsieur le juge
Raymond J. Halley (St. John's) qui a choisi de devenir juge
surnuméraire.
Monsieur le juge Michael Harrington a obtenu un baccalauréat
en droit en 1972, de l'Université Dalhousie et un
baccalauréat es arts (histoire/sciences politiques)
en 1969, de l'Université Memorial. En 1972, il a
été admis au Barreau de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador.
Il a exercé le droit au sein du cabinet Stirling
Ryan à St. John's (1972-1990) qui s'est fusionné
en 1990, pour devenir le cabinet Stewart McKelvey. Il est
spécialisé dans les domaines du contentieux
et du droit administratif, ainsi que dans les affaires concernant
le pétrole et le gaz. Il est membre distingué
du Collège canadien des avocats en droit de la construction
depuis 1998, dont il a été auparavant gouverneur.

Q.C.

Les membres du Collège canadien des
avocats en droit de la construction sont fiers de leur ami
et collègue, Rob Graesser, qui a été
nommé juge à la Cour du Banc de la Reine de
l'Alberta le 15 décembre 2006, et l’en félicitent.
